Quirky Southampton based 5 piece The Inklings have just stormed their way into the grand final of this years Vodafone Live and Unsigned competition.
Auditions began in February where the band obtained a unanimous judge pass to the next round.
They then continued to wow the Judges in the regional and semi final heats, where they were said to be the better band by at least three of the panel, one being Dane Bowers formally of Another Level.
Armed with their unique blend of styles and genres including rock and roll, reggae, gypsy ska and a large following of fans, The Inklings stand a good chance of landing the £20,000 management and recording contract and the opportunity to impress such industry professionals as Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols manager) and former Radio 1 legend Annie Nightingale.
Front man John Burke says "We hope to land some great gigs from this, and maybe cut an EP or album, its a great opportunity for us".
Other acts to reach the final with the Inklings include Kid rockers Theory of 6 Degrees, and Brighton based electro band 900 Spaces.
The Grand final will be held on the 27th June 2009 at Portsmouth Guildhall.
