Oscars – The Nominees

The 76th Annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 29, and the nominees are here! Leading the way with a whopping 11 nominations is the already classic Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, with nods for Best Director (Peter Jackson), Best Song and Best Picture to name a few.

Hot on its heels is the epic boat voyage flick Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World with ten nominations including Best Actor (Russell Crowe) and Best Picture.

The majestic Civil War movie Cold Mountain is up for six awards with Nicole Kidman going for Best Actress and Renee Zellweger looking to pick up another Best Supporting Actress gong after scooping a Golden Globe Award for the same role.

Sophia Coppolas heartfelt Lost in Translation is up for four statues including Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Bill Murray), while Mystic River challenges its peers with nominations for Best Supporting Actor (Tim Robbins) and Best Actor (Sean Penn).
