Oscar Nominations Due

How will British hopes Kate Winslet and Slumdog Millionaire get on?

This years Oscar nominations will be announced this afternoon (around 1.30 GMT) with many British films in the running.

Kate Winslet has already won two Golden Globes and is up for two BAFTA awards. She has had critical acclaim for her roles in The Reader and Revolutionary Road- directed by her Brit husband Sam Mendes.

Another UK movie Slumdog Millionaire is directed by Danny Boyle and features youngster Dev Patel in the lead role.

Frost/ Nixon has a British writer and stars Michael Sheen as talk show host David Frost.

Mickey Rourke, Brad Pitt and Sean Penn are likely to feature in the best actor category.
