Slumdog Millionaire Takes 8 Oscars

The British movie scoops gongs including Best Film, Director and Adapted Screenplay

Slumdog Millionaire won eight Oscars last night including Best Film and Best Director.

The tale of a child from the Mumbai slums who wins the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? was the big winner at the Academy Awards.

It was awarded Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Score.

Collecting his award Danny Boyle jumped around on stage and explained: "

My kids are too old to remember this now, but when they were much younger, I swore to them that if this miracle ever happened, that I would receive it in the spirit of Tigger, from Winnie the Pooh, and that's what that was."

Another winner for Britain was Man On Wire- which was named Best Documentary.
