Britney Spears Wants X Factor USA Judging Role?

As SiCo confirms that the new series will have two presenters...

Britney Spears has allegedly shown an interest in becoming a judge on The X Factor USA.

According to The Sun, the Hold It Against Me singer is keen to show her fans that she's put her past problems behind her and sees a stint on Simon Cowell's talent show as the perfect way to do so.

There are currently two jobs up for grabs on the US XF panel, after it was revealed that Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul would not be returning for the second season.

Speaking of Britney, a source told the newspaper: "She's a huge fan of The X Factor and thinks it's the perfect time for her to be a judge. She wants to show her fans she is back to her best and where better to do that than on national TV every week?

"She knows all about the ups and downs of pop fame. And with her schedule relatively clear she has the time to dedicate to a different project."

As well as Spears, the likes of Mariah Carey, Katy Perry and Janet Jackson have all been tipped to join the panel, with The Sun reporting that Cowell is still in talks over who will land the roles.

A music industry insider told the newspaper: "Britney has had a tough few years but this would put her back at the very top. She would be great for the show and it could be great for her. In terms of excitement and intrigue Britney would top them all."

Following the departure of presenter Steve Jones, Cowell has since confirmed that the new series of the show will have two hosts.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday (22nd February), the music mogul revealed: "It will be two. What we've learned on the show is you have so much information you have to relay as one person that I think it's almost impossible to have one person doing the hosting job.

"You have to give out so much information from phonelines to integration of the sponsors; they are like newscasters now, it's a much bigger role. I think there is a more fun way of doing it with two people, they can be in different parts of the studio throughout the show."

Simon added: "I think you'll see a very different chemistry with two people. I always wanted a boy and girl to host the show and I think that will happen now."
