SPOILER ALERT: This story covers episodes which are yet to be screened in the UK.
Two more contestants have been given the boot on The X Factor USA – revealing the acts to appear in this year’s semi-final.
CeCe Frey was the first to get bad news after coming bottom in the public vote. Mentor Demi Lovato cried as she said goodbye to her last remaining act in the competition.
“I have grown so close to you, I’m just so proud of you," she told CeCe before giving her a big hug.
Diamond White and Fifth Harmony had the next-fewest votes and were forced to go head-to-head in the sing-off.
Fifth Harmony sang Mariah Carey's Anytime You Need a Friend while Diamond White performed Lee Ann Womack's I Hope You Dance.
The deciding vote went to Demi who sent Diamond White home.
The losing contestant took the news fairly well, making reference to the UK’s Cher Lloyd who went out during the semi-finals in the competition here - and who impressed when she performed on the US show recently.
She said: "I'm just happy that - I'm thinking of Cher Lloyd. I mean... look where she is. When I get off tour, I'll be sure to come back here with one of my hit songs and I'll perform for you guys."
Mentor Britney agreed, telling the young performer: "Sweetie, I just think that you're so young, and the future is ahead of you and the world is yours."
Of the semi-finalists remaining, cowboy hat-wearing Tate Stevens is once again in pole position, having come top in the public vote – followed by Carly Rose Sonenclar.
The semi-finalists will battle it out next week.
