SPOILER ALERT: This story covers events which have not yet been screened in the UK.
Boy band Emblem3 have been given their marching orders from The X Factor USA after getting the fewest number of votes in semi-final week.
And their exit means that Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens and Fifth Harmony are set to compete in next week's final.
Simon Cowell confessed that he was "very, very disappointed" that Emblem3 were out of the contest - but told them they would still have a "huge career" after the show.
And 13-year-old singing sensation Carly Rose told them: "I know you're gonna go so far, and I can't wait to buy your album."
There was more shock news from the show, with judge LA Reid revealing that he will not be returning next year.
The record exec told Access Hollywood: "I have decided that I will not return to The X Factor next year.
"It saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit. I have a company to run that I've kind of neglected. This was a nice break but now it's time to get back to work."
But he insisted that he plans to stay in touch with head judge SiCo.
"I love Simon. We have a great relationship. We have fun together, we talk, we laugh and do bad things, we're friends."
There is also speculation that TV bosses won't be able to afford Britney Spears next year, because ratings have not been as high as was hoped.
A source told Access Hollywood: "Producers were hoping to pull in between 15 and 20 million viewers but the show hasn't reached those expectations.
"Those numbers add up to cost cutting and Britney will be expendable. Producers will be looking to spend less on the production of the show, including the judges' salaries.
"Britney is on a $15 million contract, which is absurd given that there's been no huge surge in the ratings."
