The X Factor finalist Marcus Collins has apparently been struck with a throat infection, which prevented him from performing with mentor Gary Barlow last night, 5th December.

The Liverpudlian lad had been due to sing alongside Barlow at this gig at the Royal Albert Hall ahead of the XF final this weekend, but reports claim Collins was forced to pull out after feeling unwell.

A source told The Mirror: "Marcus's throat is really bad and although he wanted to try to sing in the soundcheck he was told to forget it,"

"He has been banned from singing for 24 hours by the doctors. They are going to assess him again on Tuesday to see if there is an improvement."

They continued: "Gary has another gig that night so he could still try to appear then but it would be a risk."

"In the past, other finalists have performed at big shows and gone on to win. Leon Jackson sang on stage with Michael Bublé on his tour just days before the final and went on to victory, so getting out and performing can help raise your profile."

The 23-year old singer is due to go head-to-head with fellow finalists Amelia Lily and Little Mix in Saturday and Sunday's finale, and is currently still due to perform in his hometown on Wednesday, 7th December.

Get well soon Marcus!
