Transformers 2 Takes $16 Million

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen took an estimated $16 million in its opening night at US cinemas.

The blockbuster- which is currently number one at the UK box office- opened on 3,000 screens Stateside on Tuesday at midnight.

$16 million is the second biggest one night earnings for a film. Only The Dark Knight has done better taking $18.5 million last summer.

It’s thought the Transformers sequel could now take over $200 million in its first week.

The Michael Bay directed movie stars Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox- who are rumoured to be dating.

A third film in the franchise is already confirmed.
