Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner hit the black carpet last night for the US premiere of Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Fans had been camping out at Los Angeles Nokia Theatre as early as Monday to catch a glimpse of their idols as R-Pattz and Co were met with deafening screams at the star-studded event.

K-Stew looked stunning in a glittery white Elle Saab gown, while rumoured beau Pattinson sported a blood red Gucci suit.

Despite the hysteria, 24-year old Pattinson insisted that he wouldn't be staying out late to celebrate the opening of the third Twilight instalment.

R-Pattz claimed: "I have to work tomorrow. I have got a 5am start on a film, Water For Elephants."

Despite previously stating that Twilight 'can be a little boring', he added that he would miss playing vampire Edward Cullen when the series finishes.

Pattinson said: "I like all the people that I work with and I guess I'm going to miss all this [indicating the frenzied crowd] as well."

Rob's hunky co-star Taylor Lautner also confessed that he was nervous when hitting the appropriate black carpet in front of the screaming crowd, stating: "I get so nervous, really nervous,"

"If it's just me and Kristen it's not good because we're both nervous so we just feed into each other."

He continued: "So it's not good. But this is amazing to come up here and see thousands of fans here."

The 18-year old also admitted that being topless for most of his time playing werewolf Jacob Black can get a bit much at times.

Lautner revealed: "It's tough, it was easier this time than New Moon, but it's still a big challenge. We have blankets and heaters to cuddle up to, but you've gotta go through the pain."

Speaking of pain Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan in the hit series had to change her shoes halfway through the event because she couldn't walk in them.

Stewart groaned: "I'm ready to go inside, but only because my feet hurt,"

Of the movie, the 20-year old confessed: "It was fun. I was so very much in her [Bella's] mind that I didn't know how it was going to go."

The actress added: "She grows up in this movie, she chooses Edward, she doesn't need him anymore.'

As well as the main stars, fellow cast members Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Kellen Lutz turned out for the event and were also joined by the likes of Jennifer Love Hewitt, Will Smith's children Willow & Jaden Smith and Kim Kardashian.

Despite the impressive turn out in the US, Rob, Kristen and Taylor are to snub the UK Eclipse Premiere next month.
