Robert Pattinson: "I Am More Than Just Edward"

Robert Pattinson may have become a worldwide star since playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga, but it seems the actor is keen to cut his ties with the vampire.

R-Pattz, who has repeatedly expressed his dislike of being in the public eye since starring in the vampire flicks, has claimed that he no longer wants to be associated with playing Cullen, in order for his career to survive the test of time.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the 24-year old hunk confessed: "When you're really successful you pay a certain price. Especially because I've been so successful with Twilight I will probably have to prove for the next 10 years that I am more than just Edward."

Pattinson also claimed that he also finds it hard to come to terms with his popularity since hitting the big time, stating: "The other day at a dinner. I was told I would be sitting next to a table with 18 people and my first thought was, 'Great, probably a mob of teenagers'."

He continued: "But it was 18 Asian children and they didn't know who I was. It was the most relaxed dinner I've had in ages."

After revealing that he hopes to leave Edward Cullen behind him, it seems Rob is keen to pursue a career in music once the Twilight Saga wraps.

Rob, who is currently starring in new movie Water For Elephants with actress Reese Witherspoon, has always expressed an interest in making music, and has since told BBC's Radio 1: "I'd like to start performing again because I haven't done it in so many years now."

The star added: "It makes such a difference in your life. If you've ever done it once it's very addictive."
