David and Victoria Beckham’s fourth child will be a girl.

The couple were told the news during a 16-week ultrasound scan at the private Rivers Hospital near their Hertfordshire home, reports The Sun. They were also told the baby is healthy and "developing perfectly".

A family friend said that Victoria was in tears of joys when she learnt she was carrying a girl. "David and Victoria are over the moon. This will be their last child and to be told they are having a girl is the icing on the cake for the Beckham clan.

"Victoria is 36 and David is thinking about life after retirement,” the friend explained. “For them, with a sister for their boys – who are growing up fast – this is the perfect family. All their dreams have come true. They couldn't have wished for more."

After three sons – Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, five – the pair have made no secret of their desire to have a daughter. In one interview Victoria admitted she could imagine herself "painting her nails, putting on make-up and choosing clothes" with a little girl.

The long-awaited addition to the Beckham brood is due to arrive in the summer.
