Jamie Archer has become the first of Simon Cowell’s over 25’s to be voted off the X Factor.
The rocker, a.k.a
Jamie Afro battled it out with
Cheryl Cole’s boy
Lloyd Daniels in the sing off, which saw the 33 year-old pub singer loose out to Lloyd after the judges took the decision to the public vote.
It is the fourth time the judges have lost the power to save one act, taking the vote to deadlock leaving Archer booted out of the competition with the fewest votes.
Jamie said of his departure: "It's not the end, it's the beginning, I just want to make a record and get out there and play,"
Cowell, who was mentoring Jamie along with Essex boy
Olly Murs and
Danyl Johnson, described Archer as: “a great guy who has a great future ahead.”
Twins John and Edward managed to survive the public vote for another week after their hilarious rendition of the Queen hit Under Pressure, which saw the terrible twosome rapping over the classic.
Jedward were also praised for ‘keeping their cool’ after DJ
Calvin Harris invaded their performance on Saturday evening, holding a pineapple to his head – supposedly to represent the twins hairstyle.
Harris, who was due to appear on the celebrity panel of ITV2’s The Xtra Factor was kicked out the studio by security.
The Not Alone star later posted on his Twitter page: “Was just thrown out of x factor for jumping onstage during Jedward with a pineapple on my head.”
