Nick and J-Law met on the set of X-Men: First Class, but ended their relationship last year - and are scheduled to work together again on the Marvel Studios superhero sequel when it begins filming in April.
Speaking to Comingsoon.net, he indicated that he didn't know if he had many scenes with J-Law yet anyway.
He said: "I'm still waiting to see the script but I've spoken to Bryan briefly about the outline and what he wants from the character.
"I think Hank's a really fascinating guy and the Jekyll and Hyde aspect of his personality so I think it's really exciting and also going back with Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman being involved with this one, it's going to feel pretty much like an 'X-Men' movie I guess because those were the guys that I grew up watching in those films."
Hoult plays Beast in the superhero franchise, while J-Law plays his fellow blue-skinned mutant Mystique.
Meanwhile, in other X-Men news, Hugh Jackman has told The Hollywood Reporter that he is not committed to play Wolverine again after Days Of Future Past.
He said: "First heard about it around October or November. I was literally finishing The Wolverine and dreaming about lasagne, and about three weeks before the end, they told me.
"There was no way I was not going to be part of that."
We told you yesterday how Peter Dinklage has signed on for the new X-Men movie.
