Neyo Disses 'Copycats'
It's rare these days for a high profile star to come out and say exactly what they think.
So imagine our surprise when we sat down with one of the industry's most multi-talented men - Neyo - and he spoke directly from the heart.
When asked what he thought about the current RnB scene, the Las Vegas native let rip: "RnB today is nowhere near where it used to be back in the day. Everyone's on this copycat thing rightnow where all the music is beginning to sound alike and I don't dig it".
So what/who does the ''Closer'' star blame for the current state of affairs?
MTV News suggested it could be the over-use of the same producers... "It might. I mean producers are celebrities and stars themselves these days" said the singer/songwriter, as he lost the trademark grin and spoke seriously for a moment.
He continued: "if you go to Timbaland for a song, then he is going to give you a ''Timbaland beat''. You're going to do what you do over a ''Timbaland beat''. So people can't say that's so and so's song because it's over a ''Timbaland beat''. No disrespect to Timbaland but if everybody eats at the same place then in a minute it's going to get boring."
