New Music Round-Up: Niall Horan, Craig David, Nick Jonas and More
Plus new songs from Lorde, SZA, Tove Styrke, Jessie Ware and more...
There's only room for one in your heart
So tell me darling, why are we like this?
I must admit that I kind of like it
Oh, you're acting sweet
I know what that means
All these games we play
Always end the same
Selfish love, why do I do these things?
I break you down, just to get my way
Selfish love, darlin' you do it too
You tell me lies and I bend the truth
And I, I know
That I can't get enough
Selfish love
Baby now it feels like we're dancing
Touching bullets, now ain't that romantic?
Take what I want, but you want me to take it
I only give love and I want to make it
Oh, you're acting sweet
I know what that means
All these games we play
Always end the same
Selfish love, why do I do these things?
I break you down, just to get my way
Selfish love, darlin' you do it too
You tell me lies and I bend the truth
And I, I know
That I can't get enough
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Oh, you're acting sweet
And I know what that means
Selfish love
Oh, you're acting sweet
And I know what means
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Selfish love
Singles
Niall Horan - 'Too Much To Ask'
'Too Much To Ask' is the beautiful third single from Niall's solo debut Flicker. A gorgeous, piano-led ballad about getting over heartbreak, with the singer's lovely vocals even managing to make a broken heart sound romantic. Produced by Greg Kurstin, the 'Slow Hands' singer says it's "a very special song" to him and one of his favourites on the album, which is out October 20th.
Craig David - 'Heartline'
He's back! 'Heartline' is a brilliant, bouncy tropical anthem and the lead single from Craig David's just-announced new album The Time Is Now. His voice sounds as incredible as ever here, and the sweet melody is just screaming to be a huge sing-along moment at his legendary TS5 shows.
Jessie Ware - 'Alone'
Can Jessie Ware do any wrong? It doesn't seem like it, as she releases the third incredible song from her new album Glasshouse this week with 'Alone'. Following the singles 'Midnight' and 'Selfish Love', the new track is a gorgeous ballad that sees her giving into true love across a truly romantic soundscape.
Lorde - 'Homemade Dynamite' [Remix] (feat. Khalid, Post Malone and SZA)
This. Is. Amazing. Lorde enlists the help of Khalid, Post Malone and SZA for the truly brilliant remix of her already-amazing 'Homemade Dynamite' for the next Melodrama single. Between the four artists' talents, the song elevates to exceptional new highs and sounds refreshed rather than diluted, which is always the danger with remixes.
Nick Jonas - 'Find You'
Well, this is just lovely. Nick Jonas departs from the bass-heavy electro sound of 'Close' for his new single 'Find You', a gorgeous tune that is lyrically actually quite sad but his laidback delivery makes it an easy breezy sing-along and the production is so effortlessly lush you just want to be driving the car with the top down on a sunny day. Think Miley's 'Malibu' but not exactly.
Tove Styrke - 'Mistakes'
Yes! Yes! Yes! Tove Styrke follows up the Song of the Summer-worthy 'Say My Name' with this fliratious bop about the temptation that comes with a new lover, and it's just amazing. If you're not already familiar then we encourage you to get to know her, as she's making some of the best pop out right now.
Leo Kalyan - 'Temptation'
Leo Kalyan turns up the heat and the tempo on this sexy, dance floor-ready bop. 'Temptation' is a slick, low-key banger rather than in-your-face though, keeping its cool thanks to the singer's always-brilliant melodies and that voice. We love it!
JP Cooper & Stormzy - 'Momma's Prayers'
A collaboration we didn't expect but are so glad it's happened: JP Cooper and Stormzy's ode to their mums is absolutely lovely, just like the rapper's not-often-heard singing voice which can be heard on this one.
CupcakKe - 'Exit'
Yet another bop from the one and only CupcakKe. 'Exit' is a fierce kiss-off banger to an ex who cheated with their exes, and the 'CPR' rapper's rapid-fire flow on the verses is truly a moment. Yes, queen!
Gucci Mane - 'Curve' (feat. The Weeknd)
The Weeknd returns to his X-rated mixtape best on this epic collaboration with Gucci Mane, which is just amazing on all fronts. The production is insane, it's classic The Weeknd, and Gucci is at his best.
Hannah Jane Lewis - 'Raincheck'
Hannah Jane Lewis is back with a total pop gem in 'Raincheck' that generally just ticks all the boxes for How To Make A Brilliant Pop Song, including that all-important 'HEY!' moment on the chorus.
Albums
Galantis - The Aviary
They're back! After giving us some modern dance classics like 'Runaway (U & I)' with their 2015 debut Pharmacy, Galantis have returned with a brilliant second album. The Aviary will be filling dance floors just the same but experiments with their sound more than before, as they inject some disco into the groovy 'Call Me Home' and go more stadium-pop with the massive 'Hey Alligator', while keeping the duo's signature sugary sound and irresistible hooks.
Superfruit - Future Friends
Superfruit - a.k.a Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying - release their debut album Future Friends today, an experimental pop affair made up two incredible EPs. Their extraordinary vocal talent is matched by their pop sensibilities and knack for hooks, as every single song is loaded with gorgeous melodies and hypnotising harmonies, whether the lyrics are dealing with partying out anxiety, falling in love for the first time or liberating women. You have to hear this album, there's no question about it.
Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold
It's madness to think that Foo Fighters are releasing their ninth album today, especially when the new music is just as good as their older material. Concrete and Gold is one of the band's most cohesive sets in recent memory, with very few skippable moments and major standout moments, like 'Make It Right' and 'Dirty Water'. A must-listen!
