Nick Jonas Patted Priyanka Chopra On The Back Instead Of Kissing Her On Their First Date
What a gent.
The actors' romance began way back in 2016 after Nick slid straight up into Priyanka’s Twitter DMs. Classic.
“It was Nick who sent the first message,” Priyanka told Vogue. Their chat over DM was “friendly with an eye toward flirtation,” and the flirtation must have worked as the pair quickly went on a first date.
The date happened a week before the pair appeared at the 2017 Met Gala in matching Ralph Lauren. Afterwards Priyanka invited Nick back to her apartment, which is when he learnt that her mother was inside.
Priyanka said that they still “hung out for a couple of hours,” but the date didn’t end the way she thought it would do, adding: “He patted my back before he left.”
“There was no kiss. There was nothing,” Nick chimed in with. “She’s still upset about that.” But it turns out that he was just being sweet and thought a pat on the back was the right move.
"Your mom was in the house!” he added. “I thought it was a respectful first night.” Unfortunately for Nick, Priyanka thought it was a bit “too respectful,” but she clearly didn’t hold too much of a grudge.
After their first date, and attending the Met Gala 2017, the pair didn’t see each other again until the Met Gala of the following year. That’s a really long time to wait for date three. It didn’t seem to faze Nick at all though.
Going on to talk about the moment he knew Priyanka was the one, he said: “She walks into the Chateau [Marmont in Los Angeles], and I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and understanding about this next chapter of my life.”
Nick then went into detail about their engagement during a trip to crete, saying that he had to suffer through a whole 45 seconds of silence after getting down on one knee and popping the question, adding: “No joke—she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.”
But it turns out that Priyanka was just in shock, and he told her: "I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”
This is too perfect.
