Nick Jonas Teams Up With (DJ) Mustard For 'Anywhere'
He's back! And it's even better than we expected...
Surprise! Nick Jonas has made a last-minute addition to the New Music Friday playlist with an unexpected collaboration.
The singer has been quietly working on new music since releasing his (ridiculously underrated) one-off single 'Find You' last September and now it seems he's ready to return.
Nick teams up with Mustard - formerly known as DJ Mustard - on 'Anywhere', a surprising departure from the moody R&B slo-bangers we've come to expect from the super producer.

Get on my elevator, baby
We're going up
Give me that now and later, I can't get enough
So much to discover, please don't stop me now (don't stop me)
Every time I touch you, you lift right off the ground
Let them go, all the one's tryna get in the door
I'mma go where they all couldn't go
Up a floor, up a floor, up a floor, oh
I know, we can get higher
There's levels to your love
Yeah, there's levels to your love
And I know, we can get higher
There's levels to your love
And I keep on climbing up
(Rooftop)
(Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
(Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
(Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
(Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Aw, yeah, just walking up on the ceiling, dancing up on the wall
You and that drug you're dealing, should be against the law
All this heat keep rising, make you stop, drop, and roll
I'm bottling up the lightning, supernatural
Let them go, all the one's tryna get in the door
I'mma go where they all couldn't go
Up a floor, up a floor, up a floor, oh
I know, we can get higher
There's levels to your love
Yeah, there's levels to your love
And I know, we can get higher
There's levels to your love
And I keep on climbing up
(Rooftop)
Levels, levels, levels, levels (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Levels to your love (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Yeah, heaven can't reach us (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Yeah, we're high-fiving Jesus (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Yeah, yeah
And I know, we can get higher
There's levels to your love
Yeah, there's levels to your love
And I know, we can get higher
There's levels to your love
And I keep on climbing up
(Take them to the rooftop)
Oh, levels (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
There's levels to your love, yeah, yeah (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Levels, levels, levels, levels (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Levels, levels, levels, levels (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
Oh, oh, yeah, get on my levels, levels (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)
There's levels to your love and I keep on climbing up (Up-up-up, up-up-up, up-up-up)

'Anywhere' is a slick synth-heavy track that jumps between sexy jam and thumping club banger, and, while that sounds a bit like a headache, it somehow works.
"You could be anywhere right now / You're hard to see / I'll be your light / If you say the words for me," Jonas sings over booming synths on the chorus.

The production is a stark contrast from Mustard's famed style found on Tinashe's '2 On' and Rihanna's 'Needed Me', as he experiments with harsher electronic elements and dances around the line of pop.
It's hard to deny that 'Anywhere' is a massive tune and its element of surprise will surely only help it stand out to listeners.
Alongside his new sonic direction, Mustard's decision to cut the DJ from his stage name hints at a new chapter of his career that brings him from the studio sound boards to the forefront, à la Diplo or Calvin Harris.
We are super excited that both Nick and Mustard are back with new music, and cannot wait to see what's next!
