Nicki Minaj Congratulates Cardi B on Number One Single 'Bodak Yellow'
The 'Anaconda' star is one of Cardi's many fans...
Cardi B became the first female rapper to score a US Number 1 single with a solo record in 19 years yesterday. Lauryn Hill was the last and only other female rapper to achieve the same milestone back in 1998 with her classic 'Doo-Wop That Thing'.
And on top of that Nicki Minaj has just congratulated Cardi on the HUGE achievement.
YES NICKI IS A FAN OF THE 'BODAK YELLOW' RAPPER TOO.
Taking to Twitter Nicki wrote: "Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement." OMG. Our hearts are already melting. The 'Feeling Myself' hitmaker then added: "Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it."
Cardi then responded saying: "Thank you!! This means sooo much coming from you!!"
This exchange is potentially the greatest exchange of all time.
In spite of Nicki's record breaking 70 Billboard Hot 100 entries, she is yet to score her own Number 1. To see her congratulate another female rapper on a major milestone that many thought that she would achieve first is both humbling and beautiful.
And it's worth mentioning that artists like Nicki with hits like 'Anaconda' and Missy Elliott with hits like 'Work It' have helped to pave the way for Cardi's achievement. Not only that but they may very well score their own Number 1s in years to come.
This is all making us very emotional and we are so happy for Cardi and female rap in general.
To celebrate Cardi wrote: "This is the happiest day of my life".
This is just the beginning for you Cardi. It's all up from here!
Now why don't you and Nicki pop in the studio together.
