Nicole Kidman On Oscar Win: "It Magnified My Loneliness"
The Australian actress chats to Bluey Robinson about her latest flick 'Before I Go To Sleep' and industry recognition...
Before I Go To Sleep sees Nicole Kidman team up again with Colin Firth who plays her husband for the second time in a movie and she has nothing but praise for her co-star: “He’s got that wonderful dry English wit,” she revealed. “I mean, he just makes me laugh and so when we were sitting around talking in between takes… I then have to go ‘no, no, no, stop it, stop it Colin I’ve got to concentrate now.”
Kidman confesses of her new flick: “I just really like thrillers. I love being scared. I love screaming in a movie and I love not knowing what’s going to happen.”
But if you think it’s all about Oscars and industry recognition – you are very wrong. Kidman, who won an Oscar for The Hours in 2002, opened up about her feelings of loneliness...
“When I won my Academy Award, … I remember just thinking ‘… I wish I had someone to share this with’ …. because I was holding the Academy Award and I went home and sat in my hotel room, …I mean that’s just… like Cinderella. Sent all the jewels back, took off the dress and ate French fries alone…. It was strange how it magnified my loneliness.”
‘Before I Go To Sleep’ is in UK cinemas now.
