If you haven’t manage to get a Nintendo Switch yet, we have good news - Nintendo will be doubling the amount of Switches its making!

According to The Wall Street Journal, the company is increasing production due to its record-breaking sales all across the world, with reports from the Americas, Australia, and Europe confirming the new system had been the most successful hardware launch in Nintendo history.

Nintendo

Although official figures have yet to be confirmed, it’s thought the Switch moved 1.5 million units in its opening week.

To keep up with demand, from 1 April, 2017 to 31 March, 2018,  the company boosts plans to produce from 8 million units to 16 million. If Nintendo does manage to sell the full 16 million units, that’ll mean the Switch would’ve sold more in its first year than the Wii U - which has sold just 13.5 million units in it’s full four year lifecycle - ever has… Ouch!
