Everything You Need To Know About Nintendo Labo, The Amazing New Way To Transform Your Nintendo Switch

Here's everything we know about Nintendo Labo, the amazing new system that completely changes the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo has revealed Nintendo Labo, a brand new line of "interactive make, play, and discover experiences" for Nintendo Switch.

In each Nintendo Labo kit, you'll find sheets of cardboard that, by using your Switch console and Joy-Cons, can be transformed into a range of creations called Toy-Cons. And that's when the magic happens.

You see, this isn't just any cardboard. Thanks to magic of the Switch - which uses the infrared motion camera and Joy-Cons to detect what you're doing - you can create a working 13-key piano on which you can play real music, or construct a fishing rod that uses the Switch console to create an augmented reality fishing experience. You can also make a house (which'll have a super cute creature in it for you to care for), or a motorbike that's controlled by functional handlebars. And there's more - much more.

You can even colour in or decorate the card, if you'd like (anything will do it, but Nintendo has also confirmed that a special Customisation Set that includes stencils, stickers, and washi tape will also be available to purchase at launch for £9).

"Our goal is to put smiles on the faces of everyone Nintendo touches,” said Satoru Shibata, president at Nintendo of Europe. “Nintendo Labo invites anyone with a creative mind and a playful heart to make, play and discover in new ways with Nintendo Switch. I personally hope to see many people enjoying making kits with their family members, with big smiles on their faces."

Nintendo Labo launches on April 27, 2018 with two kits: the Variety Kit (£60), which'll feature a remote-controlled car, fishing rod, house, motorbike, and piano, and the Robot Kit (£70), which has everything you need to put together a wearable robot suit that uses motion control for you play with in-game.
