Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kasabian, The Killers and My Chemical Romance are all up for four gongs at the NME Awards.

The Arctics will battle it out against Muse, Oasis, Kasabian and Babyshambles to hold on to their crown after winning the gong last year.

In a statement the band said, We didnt think we would get any (nominations) this year. It seems weird for us to be alongside (the competition) because we still feel like a little band. When its your own thing you dont really see yourself alongside The Killers and Kasabian.

My Chemical Romance were equally chuffed to be sitting alongside The Killers, The Strokes, CSS and We Are Scientists in the best international band category - even if they don't have anywhere to put the awards should they win.

Were not the kind of people who have shelves of awards in our apartments," they said. "Some of us dont even have a place to live! Its a great honour to be nominated, as it shows someone is listening to you. Whether we win or not, we still hear you.

And it's congratulations to MTV too - Zane Lowe's Gonzo is up against Extras and Lost in the best TV show category. Nice!
