NME Awards Tonight!
Could the Kaisers walk away with seven gongs?
The countdown has begun for tonights NME Awards 2006.
Kaiser Chiefs are leading the nominations charge with seven, including nods for best British band and best album. They also feature in the all-important Best Video category " as voted for by MTV2 viewers " alongside Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz, Oasis and The Strokes.
Arctic Monkeys are up for four gongs, with lead singer Alex Turner also in the running for hero of the year. In the villain of the year category Tony Blair and George Bush are surely vying for the title of least likely to accept the award in person.
And lying at the bottom of the barrel, ready to be scraped out, are the nominees for worst band: Babyshambles, Coldplay, The Darkness, McFly and Son Of Dork. Er, good luck guys!
