Olivia Wilde On Being a "Strong Bad-Ass Pregnant Lady"
The actress is expecting her first baby with fiancé Jason Sudeikis...
Olivia Wilde opened up about her pregnancy on the Tonight Show, saying that people try to avoid mentioning she’s pregnant.
Although Olivia, whose bump is visibly showing, announced her pregnancy back in October, she told host Jay Leno: “I find that people will go to such great lengths to not mention it.”
“People will be like, ‘hey would you like a glass of whisky, or you wanna get on this roller-coaster?’ and I’m like, ‘oh well I’m actually pregnant and they go ‘whaaat?’”
The Rush actress suggested: “I think it’s because unless someone is watching you give birth they don’t want to make the wrong call.”
“’Cause that’s the worst thing in the world - when you congratulate a non-pregnant woman on her pregnancy.”
The 29 year-old, who is engaged to comedian Jason Sudeikis, also said that she looks up to her mother for an example of how to be a “a strong, bad-ass pregnant lady.”
Olivia’s mother, Leslie Cockburn, was a renowned television news producer who travelled to warzones even while pregnant with Olivia and her siblings. “I have a great mum,” said Olivia. “But she set the standard quite high.”
“When I’m worrying about ‘am I allowed to get on the treadmill?’ my mum’s like, ‘I was in warzones with you guys!’” she said, adding: “It’s good. It makes me feel like I’m not afraid of anything, I can keep going.”
And while Olivia wouldn’t disclose the sex of the baby, she did joke: “It’s human, so we feel good about that.”
