Curious Incident Goes Seven Up At Olivier Awards
Multiple gongs for National Theatre production as Helen Mirren finally wins...
The play about a teenage maths genius took seven gongs at the British theatre world's most-prestigious annual awards - including best actor for star Luke Treadaway.
Treadaway, 27, beat Rupert Everett, James McAvoy, Mark Rylance and Rafe Spall to take the award.
And Dame Helen Mirren won the best actress award for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience - her first Olivier in the awards' 37-year history.
In her acceptance speech, Dame Helen praised the Queen herself for "the most consistent, committed performance of the 20th century and probably the 21st too".
As well as Treadaway's prize, The Curious Incident's awards also included best director for Marianne Elliot and best supporting actress for Nicola Walker.
Musicals Top Hat and Sweeney Tood took three awards apiece.
