Olly Murs Impersonator Is Jailed For Grooming A 13-Year-Old Fan
Tribute act Andy Hammersley has been jailed for three years.
Well, this is very unsettling. A 29-year-old Olly Murs impersonator has been jailed for three years after grooming a 13-year-old fan for sex.
Andy Hammersley, who performs as a tribute act to the Essex star, and has even appeared on The Xtra Factor in the past, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court for two counts of sexual activity with an underage girl.
After meeting during a performance at a holiday camp, Hammersley apparently shouted out his social media details, which led to his victim getting in touch with him.
In an extract of the messages obtained by Sunday People, it shows the 29-year-old suggesting the teen sends him a 'dirty photo'.
Prosecutor Hannah Squire revealed to the court that even though the victim’s mum became suspicious of what was going on and sent Hammersley a message warning him to stop contacting her daughter, the grooming continued.
The two eventually met up on two occasions between September 2013 and November 2014.
Sunday People revealed that the teenager spent the night with Hammersley in a Bristol hotel late last year, with him telling the reception staff that she was his niece.
Facing the judge in court, he explained to Hamersley: “You face two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16. The feature of there being two such occasions aggravates matters. It is not totally isolated.
“What makes it worse still was you were to ignore a warning letter from the girl’s mum to stop any contact with her.”
As well as his jail sentence, Hammersley will now have to register as a sex offender and is banned from having unsupervised contact with girls under 16.
