Olly Murs Sends Support To Zayn Malik Amid His ‘Extreme Anxiety’ Struggle

It was recently reported that the ‘thought of going on a full world tour fills Zayn with dread’.

Olly Murs has spoken about Zayn Malik’s struggle with extreme anxiety that has seen him cancel his performance at this year’s Capital FM Summertime Ball, with Ollysaying his ‘heart goes out’ to the former One Direction singer.

It was recently reported that the ‘thought of going on a full world tour fills (Zayn) with dread’.

Sharing support for Zayn, Olly told BBC News: “(Anxiety) is definitely one of my worst fears and my heart goes out to Zayn.

“I feel for him, because he did seven or eight worldwide tours and he always had friends around him. Now, he has that daunting anxiety [of] having to come out on stage without those other guys around.”

Olly suggested that Zayn needs to start with smaller shows to ‘build that confidence again’, adding: “Once Zayn gets out there and starts performing, he'll be great. It’s just that initial thing of getting over the line. But fingers crossed he does get to perform that album at some point.”

Stars like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are amongst those to have spoken out about how the pressures of the music industry have affected them in recent months, including in terms of their mental health.

Olly, who admitted to having dealt with ‘difficult’ nights on tour himself, added: “You have to put your heart out to those guys for coming out and being honest. You’ve got to remember they're young and the pressure is massive.

"People have paid for their tickets and they want you to entertain them. It can take its weight on you."
