Olly Murs has spoken out about his X Factor error that happenedweekend, claiming it's all been "blown out of proportion."

It all went wrong when Olly announced Monica Michael was going home before he was meant to onSunday, sparking quite the outcry of various 'it's fixed' rumours.

Chatting at the ITV Gala earlier this week, Olly explained: "I think you need to put it in perspective with everything that's going on in the world. At the end of the day, I made a single mistake at a critical point in X Factor which was massively blown out of proportion."

Adding: "I had no idea Monica was going until I got the envelope. And it was just a really awkward moment for me because I made a stupid mistake."

If we were Olly we'd have been running for the hills knowing that big boss Simon Cowell was sitting right in front of us.

"I was expecting a telling off if I'm honest but I didn't get one which was nice," he said.

He continued: "I saw everyone after, I saw Monica, I saw all the judges and said I was so sorry and let myself down."

I think it's safe to say we can put this whole thing to rest now.
