5 Acts We Loved At South Central Festival 2019

From Craig David to Sean Paul, South Central kicked off MTV On The Road in style! Read on for our fave moments...

We kicked off MTV On The Road for 2019 at Portsmouth’s South Central festival and it was THE DREAM! Starting the bank holiday weekend in style, we were joined by some of our absolute faves who brought the party to the south coast in a big way.

Here are five things we LOVED about South Central…

Craig David

South Central Festival

Of course, we have to start with the Saturday headliner, the one and only, Craig David. Chatting to him pre-set he expressed his excitement about returning to the south coast, his home, to perform in front of the doting crowds in Portsmouth. With him being from Southampton the show had the excitement of a homecoming which reminded him of when he used to play shows here at the start of his career.

He brought his TS5 set, a fun mashup of old and new songs, mixed with some garage classics, to the festival and it went OFF! One piece of advice we have for you this festival season, never miss a Craig David TS5 set.

Sean Paul

MTV fave Sean Paul took to the stage at South Central to perform a set filled with his greatest hits. As the sun shone in Portsmouth the crowds went crazy for classics like ‘Temperature’ and ‘Baby Boy’ as well as new bangers ‘Boasty’ and ‘Shot & Wine’.

Chatting to him after his epic show, he gushed about working with another one of our faves, the incredible Stefflon Don on both of those tracks, as well as his love for performing here in the UK! We’re SO glad we got to see Sean Paul in our summer of festivals.

Example

Another MTV fave was on the line up at South Central festival and we simply couldn’t miss him. Example is a festival pro - FACTS! He gives the crowd the perfect mix of party bangers, old and new, to get them in the mood to dance in the sunshine.

Performing hits such as ‘Kickstarts’ and ‘Changed The Way You Kissed Me’ he brings the same infectious energy that gets everyone jumping around. See you at another festival soon Example!

Karen Harding

Karen Harding was one of the people on the line-up we were most excited about seeing. Her sets give us ALL the summer vibes and the people of Portsmouth definitely agreed.

She took over our Snapchat during her day at South Central and gave us all the backstage action, showing fans what’s it like to be a DJ during festival season.

John Newman

John Newman performed on the main stage at South Central as the sun shone over all the festival goers during golden hour.

We were in the midst of it while everyone sang along to hit tunes such as ‘Love Me Again’, his Calvin Harris collab ‘Blame’ and of course the huge Rudimental single ‘Feel The Love’. We can’t wait to see Mr Newman perform live again ASAP!
