1D’s ‘Best Song Ever’ Could Top The Wanted’s Success

Writer Ed Drewett believes the lads' tune is a 'serious cut'...

Ed Drewett, who wroteOne Direction’s latest single Best Song Ever, has revealed the track could be his most successful single yet.
The Undefeated star went on to tell The Metro that Best Song Ever could top the success of The Wanted’s Glad You Came - which is currently his best-selling penned tune to date.
Glad You Came reached No.1 in the charts in 2011 and sold over 500,000 copies in the UK, but Drewett believes Best Song Ever could beat it.
He admitted: "I've only seen the first couple of payments but I'm pretty happy with it. Best Song Ever for One Direction may top that. That's a serious cut - I'm ecstatic about that."
Explaining how he wrote the song, Drewett continued: "For any artist you write for, you have to tailor-make the song. So it might be something a bit younger and cheekier for One Direction."
As well as The Wanted, the 25-year-old has written songs for a number of artists including Olly Murs, Stooshe and The Loveable Rogues.

The music video for the song - which dropped yesterday (July 22) - features band members Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis taking on a bunch of different characters.
Drewett recently told MTV News UK that he's "buzzing" about 1D's new single, telling us: "We weren't bragging when we wrote it. The song was about them singing the best song ever.
"It is the best song ever because I wrote it and they're singing it. So that's enough."
