One Direction singer Niall Horan might be a hit with the ladies Stateside but it seems it's a different story here in the UK.

According to The Mirror, the teen heartthrob asked Skins star Freya Mavor out on a date last year only to be turned down by the 18-year-old actress.

A gossip told the paper: "Niall took a liking to Freya and they chatted a couple of times between interviews.

"It was just after The X Factor last year but, sadly, the feeling wasn't reciprocated. It wasn't too awkward, most of the cast know some of the band anyway - Freya just said he wasn't her type."

The source added: "She is single but she's confident and knows her own mind, and Niall just wasn't the one for her."

Perhaps the knock-back put poor Niall off dating for a while. The 1D star recently admitted he [uuid=c0bfdb00-84bb-476b-bbee-471d4b8f61d9]hasn't been on many dates[/uuid], preferring instead to relax at home in front of a movie.

Mind you, if he ever fancies a romantic night out, we're sure Demi Lovato would be happy to join him.
