1D's Niall: 'We Didn't Want To Scare People With New LP'
Horan explains how new album, Midnight Memories, is "different"...
One Directionstar Niall Horan has teased that their third studio album, Midnight Memories, will be "different" to their past two LPs.
However, during an interview with Capital FM, the Irish hunk explained how the group were conscious not to change things up too much, as they didn't want to "scare people off".
Niall told the radio station: "It's [the album] a bit different this time. We've definitely kept our pop melodies and stuff like that. But we didn't want to change it too much.
"People think 'Oh we've got a third album now let's change it totally' but you actually scare people off by doing that."
He continued: "We just wanted to change it up a little bit to give it more of an edge and obviously as you said – we gained a lot more creative control. We were able to write a lot more of it.
"It was a much better album this time round and this personally out favourite of the three albums and we're just really excited."
Horan added: "It's very edgy, loads of guitars, loads of drums and then obviously you've got your ballads there too."
The 20-year old also addressed the forthcoming music video for new single Story Of My Life - which is currently riding high on the UK iTunes chart - stating: "It's kinda like the song. It's not very energetic. It kinda explains the story of my life – hence the name of the song.
"We don't really like doing normal videos because if you're going do a video, you shoot a video every few months, you want it to be good."
Niall concluded: "Our videos have become a bit of an event so we sit down with the whoever's going to direct it and actually have a chat and let them know exactly what we want to do in the video."
Story Of My Life is out now, while Midnight Memories arrives on November 25.
