One Direction star Zayn Malik has revealed he was "scared" about meeting girlfriend Perrie Edwards' brother.
During an interview with The Sun, the 19-year old recalled how he met Perrie's family for the first time in her native Newcastle a few months ago, telling the tabloid he was wary about coming face-to-face with her brother, who is in the Navy.
The Live While We're Young singer claimed: "I went up to meet her Mum and family the other month. I was a bit scared of her brother to be honest — he’s in the Navy. He’s a big bloke."
The heartthrob added: “I thought he was going to be a bit defensive of his sister but he was really cool.”
Zayn, who has been dating the Little Mix beauty since meeting her on The X Factor last year, also went on to state that despite being part of one of the biggest boybands on the planet, he finds it difficult being away from his family.
Malik explained: "It’s been really hard. Last weekend was the first time in six months that I’d been home.
“It’s pretty strange because you have images of people in your head when you left, then you just think they’re going to be the same when you come back, like time freezes. I have sisters and from the ages of 11 to 13 — it’s a big change for girls."
Earlier this week, the Bradford-born hunk told how he quit Twitter in August after getting 'terrorist' taunts on the micro-blogging site, with bandmate Liam Payne confessing he worries for Zayn after the online abuse he has received.
