One Direction star Liam Payne was overcome with emotion during the boyband's first Where We Are tour date in Colombia - with the star shedding a tear on stage.

According to The Mirror, the 20-year old became choked up when singing new single You And I on Friday (April 25).

Referring to the incident on Twitter, a 1D fan quoted Liam's bandmate Niall Horan as saying: "I know Liam will probably be embarrassed by this but he cried a little we were singing You and I."

Harry Styles also gushed: "Colombia, thank you so much. You were the perfect way to start a tour. It's been a while and you were incredible. Love.x"

And, Liam's emotions were still running high by the time the group played their second show in Lima, Peru on Saturday, tweeting: "Honestly you guys are gunna set me off again Lima that was an overwhelming experience something I'll remember forever...

"It's so crazy I feel like I haven't done enough to deserve that kind of appreciation gunna spend my day in a state of shock love you guys."

Posting a snap of fans outside his hotel, Liam then wrote: "I will never understand, and you will never understand what this does to somebody ...why? no one could deserve this."

As well as getting all sentimental, Payne also joined Instagram over the weekend - using the moniker fakeliampayne.

The star managed to gain over half a million followers in just 12 hours, with Liam revealing on Twitter that fans have been trying to hack his account.

He posted today (April 28): "Lmao can people stop trying to break into my Instagram I only just got it lol that s***s clogging up my mail.

"Stop trying to guess my password!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My emails going crazy with junk and I need it to make u all nice music for new albums!"
