MTV Review: One Direction Live Up To The Hype And More At Apple Music Festival

It made us feel things.

It was One Direction's turn to headline Apple Music Festival last night (September 22) at London's Roundhouse, and to say our hopes were high would be an understatement.

Having toured the globe twice over and two more times just for luck in a matter of years, it's become a right of passage to see the boys live and we figured it was our turn to see what all the fuss was about.

Which is why this morning we literally cannot stop preaching to anyone who'll listen (sorry co-workers) why they're more than just a result of a talent show, and instead a tight-knit band who are the best at what they do.

Anyway, this is how last night went down…

The support act:

We feel like calling Little Mix the 'support' for the show doesn't really do their set justice, with the girls more like co-headliners after their jaw dropping performance.

Proving they've got ALL of the moves and vocals to match, LM treated us to a number of their hits including 'Black Magic', 'DNA' and 'Salute'.

We also got to hear a snippet of their brand new song 'Love Me Like You', as well as an acapella version of 'The End'. Though thankfully there were no tears this time from Perrie.

Oh and 'Grown' happened. YAAAAS.

The headliner:

After an anxiety-inducing countdown, Liam, Harry, Louis and Niall finally bounded on to the stage to a wall of screams…

Not messing around, the boys went straight into 'Steal My Girl' and, well, RIP US.

Having never experienced 1D live before, we were more than pleased that they really were just as good as everyone says, which was soon provenagain with 'Little Black Dress'.It made us all tingly inside.

We won't bore you with our very own breakdown of every single minute and every single second of the night, but 'Midnight Memories', 'Ready To Run' and 'Little Things' were among the first half of the show, which went by far too quickly for our liking.

The boys made sure to chat and thank Apple Music fifteen million times in-between songs, while Harry drank ALL OF THE WATER ON THE PLANET. Seriously, is that the secret to his luscious mane of hair?

'18' was a personal highlight for us, as was 'No Control', which Louis made sure to thank everyone for after the recent fan campaign.

THEN 'DRAG ME DOWN' HAPPENED. And it was incredible, and Harry's high notes made all of our dreams come true.

'What Makes You Beautiful', 'Story Of My Life' and 'Girl Almighty' bought their set to a close, much to the sadness of our inner fangirl, but not before we sang our hearts out to 'Best Song Ever'.

In conclusion:

If you look back at One Direction's first ever auditions for The X Factor, it's beyond incredible to see how far they've come both vocally and as a group.

You can't disregard them anymore as'just anotherboy band', because they're so much more than that.

Fave moment(s):

Harry insisted the entire crowd sang happy birthday to one lucky fan called Chloe, joking afterwards that 'Happy Birthday Chloe' will be available to purchase on iTunes for 59p.

Harry also caused some sibling embarrassment, declaring during their set that he was a 'little distracted' as his sister, Gemma, was on a date at the gig and he was trying to keep an eye on them!

Oh and the moment that Niall popped off stage because he was feeling sick, and Liam joked that they were 'dropping like flies' and that they're basically Take That now. Awks but true.

Special shout out to:

The ridiculously cute girls in the seated area who Harry kept making sure were okay.

Celeb spots:

The only star we spotted with our very own eyes was Alfie Deyes, but after some stalking it would seem Selena Gomez, Bella Hadid AND Suki Waterhouse were all there too.

Someone could have TOLD US that we were in the same flipping room as actual SelGo.
