One Direction Banned From Having Fans On Stage
Boys ordered not to invite girls up from crowd after Twitter hate campaign...
One Directionhave been stopped from inviting fans to join them on the stage at their concerts following a hate campaign against three girls.
The boyband ran a competition via social networking site Twitter last month offering fans the chance to sing with them at the opening date of their tour.
But the three young ladies who were lucky enough to join the boys on stage at the Watford Colosseum found that they were later subjected to abusive tweets from other jealous fans.
Messages included "I think you're pathetic!" and "You're not even pretty, why did Harry choose you?".
Competition winner Hollie Gilbert spoke to the Sunday Mirror, saying: "I was partnered with Harry [Styles]. Then they sang to us wearing tuxes. Harry was really sweet. The jealous messages began almost straight away.
"I think it's because I was partnered with Harry, the most popular member."
A spokesperson for the band confirmed that the contest would not be repeated, but only said: "The girls were brought up on stage for a warm-up show at the beginning of the tour as a try.
"It didn't work out from a practical point of view."
