One Direction Land Chart Double

It's a double 1D celebration as the lads top both the singles and albums chart...

Britain's biggest boyband One Direction are double chart-toppers after landing both the No 1 single and album.

The 1D lads went straight to No 1 in the Official UK Singles Chart with their new track Little Things, penned by Ed Sheeran.

Bruno Mars was also a new entry at No 2 with Locked Out Of Heaven, while former X Factor winners Little Mix made the top three for the third time with DNA.

Labrinth dropped two places to No 4 with Beneath Your Beautiful, and Gabrielle Apin's Frankie Goes To Hollywood cover The Power Of Love climbed an impressive 31 places to take fifth place, thanks to this year's John Lewis festive TV ad.

One Direction's double celebration will be especially sweet as Take Me Home is their first No 1 in the Official UK Albums Chart.

Rod Stewart's seasonal compilation, Merry Christmas, Baby, landed second place with legendary rockers The Rolling Stones going straight in at No 3 with their 50th anniversary collection GRRR!.

At No 4 is André Rieu & the Johann Strauss Orchestra with the Magic Of The Movies, while last week's chart-topper, Robbie Williams, dropped four places to No 5 with Take The Crown.
