1D's Niall Horan: 'X Factor Cut Short My Childhood'

Singer reveals Simon Cowell could never have prepared them for how big the boyband would be...

One Direction star Niall Horan has revealed his childhood was "cut short" by the X Factor.

Speaking about his rise to fame in an extract from 1D's new book Who We Are, the Irish heartthrob revealed that despite conquering the world as part of the boyband, he does regret leaving school with no qualifications.

"After the first audition, I packed up everything in my life in a bag."

He continued: "I didn’t realise at the time that, when I was stuffing clothes into the little suitcase, that was pretty much me leaving home for good."

Niall went on to admit that boss Simon Cowell could never have warned them about how big 1D were to become, adding: "There is no preparing for this, certainly not on the scale that the band has grown to."
