One Directionhave won the right to carry on using their namesake[uuid=b8decf69-a0f6-40f4-9a03-0a2c7399493a] after a battle with a US band[/uuid], also called One Direction.
[uuid=b8decf69-a0f6-40f4-9a03-0a2c7399493a]Back in April[/uuid], it emerged that a punk group had sued 1D for $1million in damages plus royalties, with their lawyer Peter Ross telling The Hollywood Reporter: "Rather than change their name or do anything to create confusion or avoid damage to our goodwill, they chose to press ahead and come on their tour.
"We've been in negotiations for a month to find a resolution. In our view, the negotiations weren't turning out to be very productive."

Simon Cowell's record label SyCo [uuid=0371eca5-a03d-4cd7-967d-cd9fe7f51256]later counter-sued[/uuid] the American 1D, with it now emerging that the case has been settled amicably.

A joint statement concluded: "All of the parties involved are pleased with the resolution and wish each other success."

According to Digital Spy, the US group later confirmed on Facebook: "The California band formerly known as One Direction, whose albums are titled The Light and Uncharted Shores, will now be known as Uncharted Shores."
