One Direction Settle Name Battle With US Group
The X Factor boyband have won the right to keep using the name 1D...
Back in April, it emerged that a punk group had sued 1D for $1million in damages plus royalties, with their lawyer Peter Ross telling The Hollywood Reporter: "Rather than change their name or do anything to create confusion or avoid damage to our goodwill, they chose to press ahead and come on their tour.
"We've been in negotiations for a month to find a resolution. In our view, the negotiations weren't turning out to be very productive."
A joint statement concluded: "All of the parties involved are pleased with the resolution and wish each other success."
According to Digital Spy, the US group later confirmed on Facebook: "The California band formerly known as One Direction, whose albums are titled The Light and Uncharted Shores, will now be known as Uncharted Shores."
