Sales of their debut American single, What Makes You Beautiful, have broken the million mark, with nearly 300,000 fans buying the song over the course of the last week.

The single is fast rising through the Official Billboard Hot 100 chart and currently sits at the number four spot. The video has reportedly been viewed some 97 million times online.

1D's album has seen similar success. The teenage band became the first British group ever to [uuid=6104f940-3798-4978-a3ee-2961f3749e37]enter the US charts at number one[/uuid] with their debut album, Up All Night.

They're not having things all their own way though. Californian boy band, One Direction, vowed to continue with their legal fight over the band name, despite getting [uuid=b621f857-8230-44ed-a7f5-de1dcd349fb1]death threats from 1D followers.[/uuid]
