One Direction star Liam Payne has revealed that he's penned a "banger" of a tune during a late night studio session.

The Midnight Memories singer took to Instagram to post a snap of himself pulling a baseball cap over his eyes, captioning the pic: "Just going to bed been studio written a pure banger for you guys who like dance more info to come."

It is currently unknown whether the track will feature on One Direction's new album, with all the lads thought to be busy writing new material at the moment.

The news comes after fellow 1D stars Niall Horan and Zayn Malik were forced to come to Liam's aid during their final European date of their Where We Are stadium tour after Payne injured his knee.

It is thought Liam fell over halfway through the show in Portugal, with Niall and Zayn having to carry him back on stage before their performance of single, You & I.
