One Direction's Zayn Malik Gets Death Threats Over #FreePalestine Tweet

The Bradford-born star is the latest celeb to wade into the conflict in Gaza...

One Direction star Zayn Malik has been bombarded with death threats online after tweeting the hashtag #FreePalestine to his 13million plus followers.

The You & I singer - who was brought up as a Muslim in Bradford - posted the message on Twitter yesterday (July 28), causing outrage amongst Israelis.

[related]After sharing the status, Malik soon received a number of threatening messages, with some Directioners fearing that the comment would result in him losing fans in Israel.

The star - who is engaged to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards - is yet to comment on the episode, with Zayn not the only celeb to find themselves in hot water after commenting on the conflict in Gaza.

Both Selena Gomez and Rihanna have posted about the conflict, with Sel-Go sparking criticism after posting an image urging her followers to 'Pray for Gaza', while RiRi showed her support for Palestine in a tweet to her 36.4m followers.

She later deleted the message after eight minutes, later writing: "Let's pray for peace and a swift end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict! Is there any hope?..."
