One Direction star Zayn Malik has revealed he can't see himself having a solo career outside the boyband.

The You & I singer admitted during a clip from 1D's new audiobook Who We Are that he feels secure alongside Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis, explaining: "If I did this by myself it would be a lot more difficult.

He continued: "It is cool to have that and it would be more difficult to be a solo artist I think.

"Sometimes I do look at solo artists and I feel a bit sorry for them because they don't have that, whereas we have a proper camaraderie."

1D's Who We Are is due for release on September 25, ahead of their new single Steal My Girl on October 12.
