One Direction's Zayn Quits US Tour After Aunt's Death
Bandmate Harry Styles has confirmed the news on Twitter...
Zayn's bandmate Harry Styles made the announcement on his official Twitter page, telling his followers: "Zayn has suffered a loss in his family & has had to go home for a few days so won't be at our next shows in the US.
The curly-haired heartthrob added: "Our thoughts are with him and his family at this sad time."
It is thought that fellow 1D member Niall Horan has stepped up to take over Malik's vocals during his absence.
One Direction fans have been showing their support for Zayn on Twitter, with the hashtag #StayStrongZayn quickly becoming a trending topic on the mirco-blogging site.
Malik is yet to comment on his aunt's death directly, but did retweet a post from one of his followers which read: "God has no Phone, but I talk to him. He has no Facebook, but he is still my friend. He does not have a twitter, but I still follow him. (sic)"
One Direction will soldier on without Zayn, playing tour dates in Mashantucket, Fairfax, Boston, Houston and Durham over the next week, with a spokesperson for 1D telling Mail Online that the family's privacy must be respected at this time.
