We Need To Talk About One Direction’s AMAs Red Carpet Transformation Over The Years
Seriously, what has happened?
When it comes to red carpets, One Direction always know how to surprise us.
But for some reason, the American Music Awards are the one place where we REALLY don’t know what to expect – because they dress so fancy we get a little concerned we’re going to pass out.
2015 was no exception, as it could be argued that the lads’ latest AMAs appearance was their total peak (WE ARE SERIOUS).
So in order to prove this pretty obvious theory, let’s take a look back at 1D’s previous arrivals and try to understand just how they’re doing this to us year-on-year.
Let’s start with 2013, the first year One Direction decided to grace the AMAs with their presence.
(They were nominated for New Artist of the Year AND Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group AND Favorite Pop/Rock Album in 2012, but didn’t go).
The colour co-ordination was on point here, and not even in the awkward Up All Night tour kind of way.
The skinny trousers were already going strong, as well as a big dedication to outerwear in hot LA. Zayn matched his pocket square to Liam’s shirt. It was a simpler time.
Then came 2014, the year the band won three awards, including Artist of the Year.
Niall went casual in a simple tee, while the others went pretty hard on their own unique versions of a suit.
Zayn’s strand of hair kept us up at night, Harry looked like an actual prince and Louis’ cheekbones caused us real pain. ANOTHER GREAT DAY.
Then, of course, here we are in 2015. Who could’ve predicted all the changes that would go on?
Harry’s stylistic quirkiness has literally evolved into a floral flared suit. Liam’s transition into David Beckham is complete.
By adding a simple pair of glasses, Niall has made us question our entire existence.
And as for Louis? Well, we actually can’t even get into that right now. We could write a dissertation on how exceptional he looks.
How has all this happened in the space of three years? We’re not sure. All we know is that we’re eternally grateful.
