Will One Direction Survive Without Zayn? Simon Cowell Has The Answer!

Record label boss states that despite their initial shock over Malik's exit, it's NOT time for 1D to call it a day...

Simon Cowell has opened up about Zayn Malik’s decision to leave One Direction, reassuring the boy’s fans that the group will be around for a long time to come.

Speaking to Sugarscape at the launch of 'Britain's Got Talent' in London yesterday (April 9), the music mogul revealed that Harry, Niall, Louis and Liam were initially “surprised and shocked” over Malik’s decision, but claimed the 22-year old’s exit is NOT the end of 1D.

[related]When quizzed about Zayn’s next move, SiCo told the website: “He's a fantastic singer. He's got to get his head together a little bit. He needs some time on his own, as he said, to be a normal 22-year-old which he's going to have.

“I’ve always said to all of them 'the future's bright for all of you depending on what you want to do.' We've always hoped that One Direction would stay together for a long time and my hunch is it still will. They're just too good for everything to stop now.”

Cowell continued: "They were surprised and shocked, but now they've got over it. Well not got over it, got used to it. They've been professional and they're respecting the fans who've turned up to see a great show and that's what they're doing.

The 'X Factor' head honcho went on to rubbish claims that the rest of 1D have all fallen out as a result of Zayn’s departure, concluding: “You can't work together for this long if you're not friends. You have little spats, everyone does."

So, there you have it! 1D are here to stay, HURRAH!
