"Glory Begins And Ends With Common", Selma Director Praises Oscar Winner!
Ahead of his win at last night's Academy Awards, Ava DuVernay had nothing but great thing to say about the rapper...
While Selma’s actors and director were overlooked when it came to the Oscar nominations, at the ceremony last night (February 22), its emotional soundtrack hit Glory DID pick up the Best Original Song gong.
When we asked director Ava DuVernay about the tune, which sees Common collaborate with John Legend, she was full of praise for the rapper - who also had a part in the film as an actor.
“I directed Selma, but Common directed Glory, he really was. Glory begins and ends with Common. He was the one I talked to about collaborating on a song and he took that and ran with it.”
Speaking of their performance, she gushed: "I’m going to try to stay calm as they do the song 'cause it’s so beautiful and it’s going to be on the Oscar stage which means it’s going to be seen by millions across the world, and I’m just really thrilled.”
