Poor old Michael Keaton.

The actor, who had been tipped to take home the Best Actor gong for his role in Birdman at the Oscars 2015 on Sunday(February 22), was pipped to the post by Eddie Redmayne - but it seems he was convinced that the little gold man should have been his!

[related]While many were focused on The Theory Of Everything star’s totally adorbs acceptance speech, one eagle-eyed viewer caught Keaton quickly shoving what looked like a piece of paper into his suit pocket as Cate Blanchett announced that Eddie had actually received the gong.

Many have since speculated that the piece of paper was in fact Keaton’s acceptance speech, with the actor quickly joining the rest of the crowd by congratulating Redmayne with a round of applause.

Despite this red-faced moment, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the 63-year old, with Birdman going on to win four major awards, including Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu and Best Picture.

Better luck next time Michael!
