Oxegen: Chili Peppers Close the Festival!
RHCP bring Oxegen 06 to an explosive climax...
Red Hot Chili Peppers rounded of Oxegen 06 in style last night with a set that included new songs, old songs and special treats.
Riding high on the back of the release of their latest album Stadium Arcadium, the Peppers smashed their way through the new material, most of which was sung along to by the tens of thousands of Oxegen revelers that came to see them.
For the slightly older Chilis fans came a number of tracks from previous two albums By The Way and Califorication, plus a handful from Blood Sugar Sex Magic, including giant tracks Give It Away and Under The Bridge.
And for the much older Chilis fans came a very special treat. Heres a song we havent played in 15 years, said Flea, looking amazing in a multi coloured lycra jumpsuit, before erupting into Nobody Weird Like Me from their Mothers Milk album.
Other special treats included snippets of London Calling by The Clash, The Needle and The Damage Done by Neil Young and loads of bits of Irish traditional songs, mostly started off by Flea then continued gleefully by the Irish audience.
A special end to a special weekend.
And to see Oxegen in all its glory, tune-in to Ultimate Festival Weekend on July 29 and 30.
